Julie and Deb participated in a hands-on workshop to learn and practice the Positive Approach strategies when helping people living with dementia during social interactions, personal care routines and daily engagement. The Positive Approach is the work of Teepa Snow creator of the Hander Under Hand and GEMS techniques. The emphasis is on connecting and communicating with the person before caring for the person. GEMS helps caregivers identify the cognitive and physical abilities and how to modify their approach and expectations in caring for the person living with dementia.
Techniques and skills learned from the Positive Approach will be incorporated into Handle With Care caregiver training and practice.
Handle With Care In-Home Care & Assistance was pleased to sponsor the Women with Purpose Luncheon and Survivor Fashion Show at the Wilder Mansion in Elmhurst on May 17, 2017. Modeling the fabulous fashions from Enzee, redE Boutique and Kie&Kate Couture were all local women affected in some way by cancer. The speaker, Dr. Chavez from Raby Institute for Integrative Health, shared insights into cancer prevention.
All proceeds support the cause and mission of Gracious Gifts to financially support local families with cancer.
Handle With Care employs over 130 caregivers in Chicago and the suburbs everyday – we assist patients with cancer, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, post injury/surgery and those needing assistance with everyday activities.
